Touch History
Acrylic yarn, 19th century chairs, 21st century household objects, video
October 15-December 21, 2014
Morris-Jumel Mansion, NY

A crocheted installation on view in the hallway of the Morris-Jumel Mansion, consisting of two 19th century chairs from the permanent collection, as well as found and personal domestic objects previously used in the exhibition Home.

This piece welcomed visitors to gently touch the objects to gain an understanding of their contours, function and the histories they hold. Presented within the display of crocheted historical objects was the film Unsettled (A Stitch in Time).

A series of workshops accompanied this exhibit, including A Family Workshop for Individuals with Autism, as well as Drop-in Touch Tours for the Blind and Partially-sighted.
